Grandparents & Other Relatives as Parents Series
April 5 - May 3, 2008 - 9:30am-11:30am

This event is for Grandparents and other relatives raising children. It is at Adult Day Center at Catholic Charities 1919 N. 60th St (60th and Lloyd); newer building south end of the parking lot, Bus #76. There is free child care and refreshments.

April 5 - The Road Now Taken
·  Your kids and families have changed your lives forever.  
·  How did this happen?  
·  How has your life changed?  
·  Connect with others raising children.  
·  Look to the future.

April 12 - Need Help Making Sense of the Legal, Financial, and Social Service Systems?
·  Understand guardianship, adoption, foster, kinship care, and financial resources.  
·  Plan for the future.  
·  Discover medical and social services avail- able to you.  
·  Tips to speak and act with confidence.

April 19 - Maintaining and Navigating Your Relationship With the Parent(s)
·  What impact does the parent still have on you and the child(ren)?  
·  How parenting again affects your relation- ship with the parent(s).  
·  How do you stay in control of it all?

April 26 - Behavior and Discipline
·  Learn effective discipline  techniques. 
·  Apply these to challenging situations.
·  How is the child’s behavior affected by his/her relationship with the parent(s)?

May 3 - Let’s Talk About Friendship, Dating, and Drugs
·  Explore ways to help your child develop positive relationships.
·  Update your knowledge on drug prevention.
