Give in Honor of a Friend
Like so many of our best ideas, this idea came from you. Has a co-worker or member of your civic or professional group done something special? Have you always wanted to thank that special person for inspiring you? Has a friend of colleague overcome a challenge, raised a standard, or won recognition? Is your someone an Everyday Hero? You can make a donation or undertake a drive in the name of your inspiration. Has your co-worker always had a special place for children in his or her heart? We will share the special honor with your co-worker in an online feature, by sending a special card, or by sending an ornament made by one of our kids, with your special wishes. (Please note that as our ornaments are handmade, they are all unique and quite possibly imperfect!) Here are some ideas:
RCS Innovations donated 200 Fostering Hope bags—a donation large enough to help every child entering foster care in Milwaukee County for two months! The RCS employee leadership team walks in the children’s shoes. Several members of the leadership team are themselves foster or kinship parents. They have taken in children on an emergency basis, and know what it means to have children arrive at their doors in need. According to team leaders and foster and kinship parents Jill Myles and Tarra Gundrum, “We know that it isn’t possible for everyone to become a foster parent, but we believe that everyone can help a little bit.” Under RCS leadership, employees of the firms filled kid-sized duffel bags with handmade blankets, toys, personal hygiene items, hats and mittens for abused and neglected children of all ages. This donation is large enough to help every child entering foster care in Milwaukee County for two months! Thank you RCS.
