For Parents

If you are the parent of a child, you may have questions about custody or placement. This is not the same as a Minor Guardianship and may be in need of assistance with family law. Please review the definitions and resources in our Glossary

If someone left an asset or inheritance to your child who is under 18, the child will need a Minor Guardianship of the Estate. This action appoints a parent or other trusted adult to oversee the inheritance on behalf of the child. This is not the same as a Minor Guardianship. Please review our Glossary for more information.

If you are the parent of a disabled child who will need an adult guardianship when the child turns 18, please review the information and resourced in our Glossary

If you are not able to actively parent your child for any reason and are seeking the assistance of another adult to become the guardian of your child, please review the information on Minor Guardianship with the person you would like to be the guardian of your child/ren.
